Everyday First Aid for Seniors

This non-certificate course is designed to teach some basic first aid knowledge and skills. This course will help the students recognize emergencies and react in an effective manner. Topics will include: CPR, choking, signs and symptoms of stroke, heart attack and shock. Offered in two locations: This course is subsidized by an Alberta Learning Rural Innovation and Access program grant.

Canadian Non-Restricted Firearms Safety (PAL – Possession Acquisition License)

This course is a requirement for anyone applying for, or renewing a Possession Acquisition License (PAL). The course stresses safe handling as well as storage and transport of firearms and is instructed by provincially certified firearms trainer. Each student will receive, in class, the Firearms Safety Manual (restricted or non-restricted) required for the course. Bring a bag lunch, highlighter, and photo identification.  Must be 12 years old. Bring a bag lunch.

Red Cross Babysitting Course

In this course you will learn the basics of looking after infants and young children. You will learn basic first aid skills so you are able to handle emergencies. You must be 11 years old within 3 months of taking the course. Bring a bag lunch.

Air Brake Q Endorsement

The Air Brake Endorsement course is required of anyone that operates air brake equipped trucks, whether it’s a tractor trailer, or a single axle straight truck. This course is designed to provide the participant with the knowledge to operate a unit equipped with air brakes through theatrical and practical individual training. Upon successful completion of this course you will be provided with a certificate entitling you to have a “Q” applied to your driving license.  Bring a bag lunch.

Topics include: CPR and choking for adults, shock and unconsciousness, severe bleeding, head & spinal injuries, major medical conditions, and AED training and certification. Bring a bag lunch.

Standard First Aid 

This two-day course covers all the skills in Emergency First Aid plus first aid for other injuries and illnesses including head and spinal injuries, fractures of the upper and lower limb. This course includes Level C  CPR training and certification (Adult, Child, Infant, and 2-rescuer resuscitation) and AED training and certification. Bring a bag lunch.

Farm Safety

First Aid on the Farm is intended for students and/or families who live and/or work on a farm. The course will give you a check list of things that all family members need to know and things to do to make the farm safe with machinery, chemicals and livestock. It also teaches some basic first aid principles for when things do go wrong. Students will learn to recognize potential farm hazards and to provide immediate First Aid for farm-related injuries. Bring a bag lunch.

Confined Space Entry/Rescue includes Lockout & Tagout

This training program is designed to enable workers and employers to ensure existing and potential confined space work locations are identified, and that a written confined space entry program is developed and maintained by the employers. After completing this course, participants will be able to:

·           Demonstrate and apply controls that prevent accidental exposure to hazards related

            to confined space entry

·           Identify hazards; understand process isolation/lockout and tag out procedures

·           Reference and apply applicable legislation

·           Demonstrate application of controls

·           Prepare and apply rescue plan

·           Retain required documentation

H2S Alive

Hydrogen Sulphide safety training is a course administered by Enform (formerly known as Petroleum Industry Training Services) and is the Canadian upstream petroleum industry standard for hydrogen sulphide safety training. This is a mandatory course for working in the oil and gas industry. The course content includes: use of breathing apparatus, gas detection, rescue techniques and resuscitation. The certificate is valid for 3 years, after which time the course must be retaken. Bring a bag lunch.

Fall Protection

This four-hour course teaches students how to prevent falls and is useful in many trades and occupations. The course content includes guard rails and safety nets, personal fall protection systems, positioning devices, fall arrest systems, anchorages, lanyards during a fall, swing fall, tying off and hook up hazards.
