International Adult Learners' Week in Canada
March 25, 2012 - April 1, 2012
International Adult Learners' Week
The Canadian Commission for UNESCO has declared the week of March 24-April 1, 2012 as International Adult Learners' Week in Canada (IALW).
In an economy where technologies and skills needs are constantly changing, access to continuous and lifelong learning opportunities is critical. Only then is it possible for all Albertans to fully participate in Canadian society, both socially and economically. It is vital to support and increase capacities within the adult learning system, from community-based learning through to post-secondary, from essential skills and basic literacy learning through to advanced skills upgrading. Increasing access to adult and lifelong learning opportunities and education must be seen as an investment rather than expenditure.
In recognition of International Adult Learners’ Week, Community Learning Network (CLN), in partnership with eCampusAlberta, is pleased to announce the Forever Learning Luncheon 2012. Join us to celebrate the contributions to lifelong learning made by Albertans throughout the province and to recognize the achievements of lifelong learners in all our communities. This event will bring together community leaders, education institutions and community learning organizations, government representatives, employers, media and other community partners who are passionate about adult learning.
We invite you to join us on Wednesday, March 28th at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald in Edmonton.
- Program will feature: welcome reception, served lunch, keynote address
- Reception at 11:00 a.m.
- Tickets: $60 per person or $450 for a table of eight
