Region 3 - Edmonton & Area
Region 3 Regional Resource Leaders:
Carol Aubee-Girard, CEO, Edmonton Community Adult Learning Association
Currently CEO of Edmonton Community Adult Learning Association, I have held that position for 14 years. Previously I worked for another council, the Community Network in Fort McMurray.
I am a founding member of the Edmonton Literacy Coalition, our goal is to increase the number of adults accessing literacy programs in Edmonton. I have been on the Community Learning Network Board in various positions and just completed 5 years. In November I became the Regional Resource Leader for Region 3 and the Granting Council Liaison person. I truly enjoy working with other Community Adult Learning Council staff and board members as there are so many opportunities to learn from others and share my knowledge. In my personal time I am involved in a winter food program for the homeless which runs in west Edmonton on Saturdays during the winter months. I am married and the mother of three boys, and all three are currently in the post-secondary system. Adult education is not only a privilege it is a necessity to live a fulfilling life. I feel honoured to witness the growth and success in the learners who access our programs each year and to be associated with the organizations ECALA supports.
Cheryl Lawson, Coordinator, Beaver County Community Adult Learning Council
Cheryl Lawson is the Coordinator for the Beaver County Community Adult Learning Council and Literacy (Adult and Family) Programs. She has shared her enjoyment of learning for almost 15 years. Assisting people in her rural area to find their joy in learning, discover and improve their knowledge and skills to enhance their lives, is always very interesting and sometimes challenging. Life outside of work is fun with her husband, two adult sons, community involvement and hobbies such as quilting.
